How To Assemble vidaXL Washing Machine Pedestal with Drawer White 50448

vidaXL Washing Machine Pedestal Stand with Drawer Assembly 50448Constructing the vidaXL Washing Machine Pedestal stand  with  drawer is difficult & time consuming. The user manual is close to useless. This detailed guide & close-up photos will save 2 hours.

Two things you will definitely need to put together the washing machine stand that are not included when you unbox are:

  • A Dry Bar of Soap, and
  • A Philips Head Screwdriver

Once you have successfully built the washing machine stand it works great, so disregard reviews that say the drawer falls out or rattles... they just assembled it incorrectly.

Here are the stages you should use:

Stage 1: Assemble the basic Washing Machine Stand (leave the rubber feet to the side for now)

Stage 2: Assemble the Drawer including affixing the rail.

Stage 3: Affix the housing to the legs of the stand for the rail on the drawer to slide into

Stage 4: Insert the Drawer into the Stand (note this step is more easily done with everything upside down).

Stage 5: Finishing Touches - Affix the Square Black Pads & the Rubber Leg Bottoms

Stage 6: Stand in Awe of Your Achievement! Then share this guide on your social media... comment below... take a bow.

Life Hack: How a Bar of Soap Helps Screws Go In Nuts More Easily

The nuts and screws vidaXL supplies with the washing machine stand are perfect, they even include a spare nut and a spare screw just in case you drop one and can't find it.

But they are very tightly fitting and impossible to fit together without some lubricant.

That's what the dry bar of soap is for. Simply scratch the bar of soap with the side of the screw to get some soap on it, then when you tighten the nut onto it the process will be easier.

Don't use liquid soap. If you have WD40 that will work also, but would recommend dry soap over WD40 as this build seems to call for only a little lubricant, not a ton of it.

It's always the case though when putting together something like this that one screw and nut will be hard to get the thread to take and many others will be so much easier.

Tip: While there is an Alan key like tool included with a Philips head on it, I highly recommend getting an actual Philips Head Screwdriver to use as it will make things so much easier and faster.

Most Important Note - Look Closely At My Photos:

Nowhere in the instructions does it detail which way you should put the screw in and the nut on. So after some experimentation I finally got it correct.

Or even which piece to attach with the drawer construction and slide housing.

That's why I have included some very large images so you can look at how I did it.

Please refer mainly to the photos I have included to work out which piece to attach to another piece and which ways to orientate the screws and nuts.

Feedback & Your Tips Very Welcome:

I would have found a detailed guide like this on how to assemble the vidaXL Washing Machine Pedestal White With Drawer a massive time saver, which is why I went to the trouble of writing it. I hope reading it and double checking my photos will help you (please comment bellow with your insights).

Stage 1: Assemble The Basic Washing Machine Stand

Yes, I put all 16 screws in and nuts on to assemble the stand based on my own logic as the instructional manual is largely useless, then referred to the product photos on the website where I bought it and realised... I had put them ALL in back to front!

So, here is how you do it correctly:

In the User Manual look at the images on Page 3.

You will be attaching the four legs - referred to as 'A' to the top of the stand referred to as 'D.'

The orientation of 'D' is like a cup = the washing machine will sit in it.

The screws poke OUT with the nuts fasted from the outside.

The spanner tool they supply to hold the nut has two different sizes on each end. We only want the smaller one.

The reason why there is a larger one on the other end is because the little spanner tool is included in some other products that need the bigger end or both to fasten whatever size nuts that product comes with together.

You will get use to using either the spanner or the Allen key type Philips head tool they supply or your own screwdriver together, using one to hole and the other to tighten.

Suggest tightening only to 90% tight first time till you have the drawer in place and are almost finished.

Set the rubber feet aside for now and the black cushioning squares for later.

If you bought the washing machine stand without the drawer you can skip forward to Stage 5 Finishing Touches.

So by now you are familiar with applying the SOAP to the screws and the various tools.

Stage 2: Assemble the Drawer & Affix the Rail

In the User Manual we are skipping ahead to Page 4 Image 3 so we can assemble the drawer, and put the rail on it.

Note: For all of the Drawer Assembly all screws poke inwards so the nuts get affixed from the inside.

Start by affixing the handle to the front of the drawer.

Then the rest of the drawer as you see fit, leaving the back of the drawer for last.

It's hard work and getting things to be at the right alignment when you are trying to put it together is annoying. It will take a while.

When you put the back of the drawer on... your guess is as good as mine as to which way up it goes. I'm not sure it matters, but you should be able to see from my photos which way I ended up doing it.

Mystery Solved: As for affixing the drawer mechanism or rail to the bottom of the drawer so it slides in and out nicely as designed... the end with the wheel on it goes at the back of the drawer.

Note we are talking about the single piece of metal with a wheel on it (item G on page 3 images in the user manual).

This is a generic drawer mechanism that can be included in many thousands of products, so it has holes to fit all kind of designs.

Once you have assembled your drawer, line up the rail to see where the holes match up. Noting the screw goes into the drawer from the outside with the bolt affixed on the inside of the drawer.

Stage 3: Affix the housing to the legs of the stand for the rail on the drawer to slide into

Now we are going to affix the loosely screwed together two piece housing mechanism (item H in page 3 images in the user manual) for the drawers to slide into. But first, let's solve yet another mystery not explained in the manual.

Why is it screwed together loosely and should I leave it like that or tighten it up properly?

The answer is YES you screw it together tightly.

As to why it is loosely assembled may be because once again this is a generic drawer part used in so many other products.

You will notice the washing machine pedestal is wider than it is deep.

The front of the stand = that you insert the drawer into has the wheel in the front.

Please pay close attention to the photos at various stages of assembling the stand to see which way what goes.

Stage 4: Insert the Drawer into the Stand (note this step is more easily done with everything upside down).

When inserting the drawer, the easiest way to do this is turn the stand upside down and try to insert the drawer upside down.

You may need to gently pull the pedestal legs apart a bit to get past the screw in the drawer mechanism.

Stage 5: Finishing Touches - Affix the Square Black Pads & the Rubber Leg Bottoms

Possibly the easiest steps are the finishing touches.

Depending on what washing machine you buy, it's 'feet' will not necessarily fit exactly on the pads. Not a factor. Don't worry.

Some reviews suggested gluing the rubber stoppers onto the feet... don't bother. Just put them on and place the vidaXL Washing Machine Pedestal with Drawer where you want it to be and it's ready for you to put your washing machine on.

Stage 6: Stand in Awe of Your Achievement! Then share this guide on your social media... comment below... take a bow.

It took me three hours to work out how to assemble this washing machine stand, but with this guide I think it will take you about an hour.

It's not easy, it requires dexterity in your hands and the ability to bend over the thing while you are working on it.

When you successfully assemble your pedestal please leave a comment below, and if you have any further insights or want to give feedback on this how to guide please detail below.

If you found it helpful, please share a link to this guide on your social media and include a photo of your creation!

Take a bow, that was difficult - but you did it. Well done.

End Notes:

We bought a new washing machine and this stand a month ago. It doesn't rattle and the drawer doesn't fall out. So ignore those reviews. Just use the above how to guide and assemble it correctly.
